Brief Synopsis of the musical:

THE ANSWER – is an original 2-act musical drama that portrays how two families facing difficult situations, find answers as they connect. Beyond the cliché, this play is based on true events dominant in our society:  Debt and Drug abuse, broken relationships, etc. 

This musical delivers hope and renews your faith as you watch what life is really all about.  The plot transpires through characters ranging in age from young kids to a grandma and every one between - even a family dog.  You’ll discover within these stories how THE ANSWER is found in forgiveness, it’s found in friendship, and it’s found in renewed relationships. 

Character Breakdowns:

JOHN:  married/a father of two.  Mid to late 40s. John owns a Tool & Dye shop.  He is under tons of pressure because of finances in his business.  His daughter Ericka is hooked on drugs.  Choleric/Sanguine personality.  Sings (4) songs; Tenor or Baritone.

KATHY is John’s wife. Mid 40s. Analytical personality.  She has recently been laid off from her job. She and daughter Erica have an all-out mother/daughter conflict.  Kathy prays for answers.  Sings on (5) songs; is a Soprano. 

ERICA:  18 year old daughter of John and Kathy.  Sanguine/Choleric personality. A senior High school and is hooked on drugs.  The has a transformation and becomes a key support to others. We must see this range.  Strong singer!

LOGAN: 12 year old son. Keeper of the Dog, DaVinci Vincenzo, Sings along on one song. 

GRANDMA: in her 60’s. Lives in the Morgan home; Husband is deceased.  She gives some spiritual instruction to Amy’s girls and sings and prays with them.  Sings the alto part on (1) song “In The Presence Of Jehovah”, and teaches the kids “I Am A Promise”.

AMY -  ( 35 years old ish) - the older Niece of Kathy. Amy is separated from her husband, Josh because of drug addiction.  Amy and her two daughters are temporarily living in John and Kathy’s house.  She sings (2) partial songs; one with Sophia and the Morgan family, and the other with Josh, “Say I Do”.

SOPHIA -9 year old A high Soprano - Expressive Sanguine personality - daughter of Josh & Amy. We see, hear, and experience this child’s pain, and the faith she has in her father; up close.  .  She sings on two songs “My Daddy Knows What To Do”, “I Am a Promise”.  Strong singer!.

TRISHA – 5 year old daughter of Josh & Amy.  With the separation of her parents, she is suffering emotionally.  At the end, we see a normal happy child.  She sings along in one group song, “I Am A Promise”.

JOSH – (35 ish years) high tenor .Is separated from wife, Amy. Powerful Sanguine personality. He hides personal struggles for a long time.  He failed two routine drug tests.  He and Amy lose their home… Josh sings (7) songs.. 

AUSTIN – 40 -50 years old- a counselor from “THE RECOVERY NETWORK.” 

NICOLE – 35 yr old ish - because she knows both Josh and Amy, she becomes a support to them. Sings on (2) songs;  Soprano or Alto. 

CHARACTERS AT THE RECOVERY NETWORK MEETING: (12) or more people meet together to discuss the nuts and bolts of recovery.   Possibly be dancers.  They also help to fill out the crowd scenes.

Dancers and Singers: fill out the opening song; and other dance tune songs.
