We have chosen The Complete Works of William Shakespeare – Abridged for our 2019 season opener, that’s what we’ve done, and it is one crazy show! This raucous comedy compresses thirty-seven works of perhaps the greatest playwright in all of literature into a ninety-seven minute laugh-out-loud-a-thon that will leave you chuckling long after the final curtain comes down. If you love Shakespeare, you will love this show, ‘cause there’s a lot of it jammed in! If you don’t know Shakespeare, you will by the end of this show. And if you love to laugh, well then you simply have to see this show!
GodspellGodspell is an iconic musical first produced on Broadway in 1971. It broke new ground in its stage treatment of the historical Jesus Christ, and its telling of the Gospel of Matthew. At the behest of John the Baptist, young men and women forsake their jobs and take up the mantle of Jesus Christ becoming his disciples in a musical set in modern-day New York City.
John-Michael Tebelek wrote Godspell to give people a "way in" to religion in general and the teachings of Christ specifically. Godspell’s score was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden), and it took the world by storm with the hit "Day by Day," and a list of beloved songs including "Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "Turn Back, O Man" and "By My Side."
